About this scene
Sprague Lake at sunrise is one of the most beautiful scenes of light. The sun starts to peek up just behind the range of mountains. The sky quickly shifts from hues of bright orange and red, to a softer palette of baby blue, light pink, and pale yellow. The lake reflects a mirror image of the rainbow sky. There’s a path that runs around the edge of the lake, but if you go off path up a small hill, you get a view of the morning light shining through the trees. Here the light seems to twinkle even brighter as it’s in deep contrast with the shadowed trees, not yet fully illuminated by the morning sun.
