Andrea Almeida creates paintings of expression and impression. Though on the surface inherently attractive, redolent of light and with a nod to the French Impressionists and Pointillists, beneath the aesthetic power of her work lies an inner consciousness of self and inextricable relationship with the environment. Her work radiates admiration for the landscape of Chicago, São Paulo, and the Pacific Coast, among others, and she captivates the viewer with her expressive technique and emotional presence. As she aptly expressed: Your state of mind creates your version of reality. Remember when you were a child at the beach and you placed your feet in sand or jumped into the ocean for the first time? That moment of awe and feeling of belonging is what I try to express through my art. Ms. Almeida has studied in Florence, Italy, and earned degrees at Bowling Green State University and Elon University, amplifying her painting expertise with an MA in Interactive Media and Visual Communication. She practices the time-honored tradition of plein-air painting, arriving at paintings of exceptional spontaneity and timelessness.
